Aaron Judge fans 'cannot believe' after viral high-five

Aaron Judge’s memorable night at Fenway Park on Tuesday also included a viral interaction with Cecilia Jacob’s fan.

In the Yankees’ 7-6 win over the Red Sox, as Hakim recorded his 56th and 57th homers of the season as he continued to chase Roger Maris’ AL record of 61 the 30-year-old flyer clapped near the dugout as he recorded the celebration.

“As soon as I hit a home run, I immediately started shooting,” says 19-year-old Jacob. recalled to The Athletic. “We were all screaming and so happy. We tried a high-five the first time (the judges did a home run) and it didn’t work, but the second time it worked, and I immediately panicked.

Although Jacob’s chance encounter with Hakim is now immortalized on the phone and online, it almost never materializes. Jacob’s chair had belonged to his friend’s brother, Lucy Nuttall, hours earlier. But when the Nuttall brothers retired on Monday, Jacob scored a seat instead.

Jacob, a Manhattan native who attended Brown University, said he was in a state of “incredulity” after the moment with Hakim.

“You saw him come in and high five,” he said of his own recording. “But when he really does high five you don’t see it. But then you grabbed my hand after that, like shaking, frozen in the air, because my hand stayed there for about five seconds after that because I couldn’t believe it.

Jacob was not alone in that sentiment, as Yankees fans were quick to take to social media on Tuesday to express their excitement over the trade.

“Loved her face after the high five,” commented one fan. on the YES Network’s Instagram page, while another commented, “I never. Already. I’m more jealous of a human.

Hakim is now four homers away from tying Maris’s record of 61 homers in a season. The Yankees will end their two-game draw against the Red Sox on Wednesday night before heading to Milwaukee.
