There are many reasons for not sending SMS, maybe at that time the Indosat network was in error, you didn’t have enough credit and the card was in the grace period.

However, if your network is in good condition, has sufficient credit, but every time you send or receive a message it never arrives, then the only cause is none other than because you have not set Indosat’s message center number (SMSCC).

What is Indosat Message Center Number?

The Message Center Number or commonly known as the SMSC (Short Message Service Center) is a service in the form of a number that helps your cellphone number to receive and send SMS on the network you are using, in this case Indosat’s network.

Usually this message center number is automatically installed in the HP configuration, but if it is not installed, the cellphone will not be able to carry out activities such as sending SMS and receiving SMS, even though you have lots of credit and a good network.

The main reason why the message center number has not been saved to the cellphone could be due to a minor bug, therefore, you must quickly fix it so that you can receive and send SMS messages as usual.

Then how?

How to Set Indosat Message Center Number (SMSC)?

Besides being able to set it up as listed below, you can also change it if you feel there are errors or other problems. The method is the same, here are step by step SMSC settings with Indosat card providers:

  • Open the dial up menu and type the following code: *#*#4636#*#*
  • Then call, wait a while until several options appear, you just select the ‘Phone Information’ option
  • Scroll the screen until you find SMSC, then enter the Indosat message center number: +62216124
  • Click update
  • Close the page, restart your cellphone, and the way to set SMSC Indosat is complete

Or more simply, it can be like this:

  • Go to the messaging app on your cellphone
  • Open message settings menu
  • Select the ‘Text Message’ option
  • After that select ‘Message Center’ and enter the number in the line provided. Pay attention to the provider you want to fill in, make sure it’s an Indosat number, then enter this SMSC: +62216124

When going to save the SMSC number, the message ‘Failed to Update SMSC nNumber’ appears so that the message center number that we put in the column cannot be saved by our device. Take it easy, because we have several alternative ways to solve this problem:

  1. Place the problematic Indosat card (cannot send messages) in SIM slot 1
  2. Turn off the phone, restart briefly, then enter the dial up menu, enter the following code: *#*#4636#*#*
  3. You then enter the network settings menu (same as above). Select the ‘Device Information’ option then look for the SMSC menu
  4. First of all, click the ‘Refresh’ button, the point is to see the SMSC code that is currently stored
  5. If it appears, replace the number in the quotes with the SMSC Indosat message center number (+62216124). Remember, don’t click the ‘Update’ button, but click ‘Refresh’!
  6. After you have finished changing, click the 3 dot icon in the upper right corner
  7. Click ‘Get PDIP List’ once
  8. Then refresh your phone right then and there. No need to close, just refresh
  9. Then try to check, can you send and receive SMS or not?

You can do these steps for setting message center numbers for Indosat and other providers (Telkomsel, XL, AXIS, Three). The steps are the same, the only difference is the message center number.
