Solution VLC Player could not be updated on the PC
Many users use VLC player to watch videos on computer conveniently. And every few months there is always an update of the media player program, which offers some new functions and improvements.
VLC Player once had an internal issue where users would fail while updating programs directly in the application or in the program. A notification will automatically appear that Update process failed, and prompts the user to use a different update method.
This has actually been confirmed by VLC themselves that they once had issues with the update process within the application. So only with this version does the user have to Download the VLC program from the website to be able to update to the latest version.
Fix VLC Player Update Failed
When you encounter this problem, it is highly recommended to follow the steps below to update VLC player manually. This is of course easy. Here are the steps:
Please go to the VLC download page.
Then click on the button
Download VLC
.When the download is complete, please double-click the file to open it.
A dialog appears, please click
Next
.Then select from the options displayed Add / Remove / Reinstall Components, and then click the button again
Next
.Then please click on the button
Next
until the end.
When the update process is complete, please try again to check for updates through the VLC Player application. If it says you are using the latest version, it means you have successfully updated it.
For the next update, this can of course be done automatically via the application. Because as I said above, the problem with the non-update is only in a version only. After updating to a newer version, this problem will surely go away and it can be updated automatically in the future.

Why is it not possible to update manually?
There are times when you encounter another problem but manually updating the VLC Player program fails in the middle. This is usually caused by installation files got to execute as administrator.
So, right click on the VLC player file that you downloaded earlier and then choose the option Execute as administrator. Then continue with the update process. And of course the process will now be smooth.
The update process can basically be carried out without uninstalling the program. Because the installation file overwrites the old file directly with the new one. And in terms of VLC Player, it is usually installed on Drive C, then the update must be run as an administrator so that the overwriting of the file is successful without interruptions.
Hopefully useful and good luck
