How to disable fingerprint lock on WhatsApp

WhatsApp has two types of protection, namely fingerprint lock and two-factor authentication. Both have different uses. When fingerprint lock is used to lock the WhatsApp application, two-factor authentication is used to protect the WhatsApp account from being re-enrolled by someone else with the same number.

WhatsApp’s fingerprint lock feature is very useful for protecting privacy, especially when the phone is turned off borrowed from friends. They cannot open the chat because they have to go through the fingerprint verification process registered on the mobile phone.

But some people don’t need this feature anymore, partly because they used it other security apps or feel uncomfortable with the function. And users also have the freedom to deactivate it at any time via WhatsApp.

Deactivating the fingerprint lock on WhatsApp

Users can disable this feature through WhatsApp’s privacy settings. That’s how it’s done:

  1. Open the WhatsApp application.

  2. Tap Three point option top right.

Click on WhatsApp Triple Dots Option

  3. Then choose settings.

    Select settings

  4. Please go to the menu account => privacy.

    Go to the account menu
    Go to the privacy menu

  5. Scroll down and tap the menu Fingerprint lock.

    Tap the Fingerprint Lock menu

  6. Then deactivate in the options Unlock with fingerprint.

Disable the fingerprint lock on WhatsApp

  7. Done, fingerprint lock successfully deactivated.

After following the steps above, WhatsApp will certainly no longer ask for a fingerprint when you open it. But if it’s still the same, please repeat the above steps carefully. And make sure the internet connection is active when you do this.

The fingerprint lock on WhatsApp can be activated or deactivated at any time if necessary. For example, users only want to activate it when they leave home, such as at school or elsewhere, and then deactivate it when they are at home. All of this is possible through Privacy settings on whatsapp.

And in fact, WhatsApp also offers a function to set the delay level for activating the fingerprint lock. By default it is set as 1 minute. For example, the phone is locked within 1 minute and the fingerprint lock on WhatsApp is activated immediately. And users can freely adjust interval the time is in the settings.
