How to view Xiaomi header screen time

Gadgetren – Digital Health has become a topic of discussion for various technology companies over the past few years, until a number of new features have emerged in response.

The use of cell phones is inseparable from various activities of daily living. Even today, a number of activities such as studying or working must actually use this mobile device in order to get done.

Unfortunately, prolonged use of a cell phone can have negative health effects, from small things like tired eyes or difficulty sleeping to an increased risk of brain cancer.

A number of technology companies are starting to recognize this problem. One of them is Xiaomi which is now a dream brand for some people.

Once known as a software developer, the company is still diligently refining its MIUI system interface with a number of additional utilities, including a digital health feature called Screen Time.

About screen time in Xiaomi MIUI

Screen Time is a great feature from MIUI that is useful for managing how long a person has been using a mobile phone such as Google’s Digital Wellbeing or iOS Screen Time.

With this function, Xiaomi mobile phone users can check the usage data of devices and applications, limit the duration or activate special modes to stay focused.

In the new version, distributed through MIUI 12, Xiaomi’s Screen Time feature has two tabs called Dashboard and Focus Mode, both of which have very different functions. How to use it.

How to view the screen time on Xiaomi Mobile

  1. Try running the update on a supported device if you are still using an older MIUI
  2. If you’re already running MIUI 12, open it settings
  3. Scroll down, find and select Screen time
  4. Tap dashboard if needed
  5. Choose between Day or week according to the data to be displayed
  6. Tap an app category to view the data in more detail

The dashboard contains various data and important settings for Xiaomi’s Screen Time function. Users can see details of how long their mobile phone was used, how long the application was used, and how often the screen was opened.

Users can view different types of data in the form of simple graphs with parameters that can be changed for easy mapping between daily and weekly.

The Dashboard Screen Time page also allows users to set a time limit for using their mobile phone. Users can even distinguish them for use on active days or weekends and make exceptions for specific applications.

How to limit mobile usage with screen time

  1. Visit the site settings
  2. Look at the bottom and tap on Menu Screen time
  3. On page dashboard, tap the slide button next to Options Daily screen timeout
  4. Change the weekday usage limit in the section Days of the week
  5. Set yourself a limit for the weekend in Weekends
  6. Tap App exceptions to set the apps that should not be restricted, if necessary

Activating this restriction function triggers a special notification when the screen is turned on beyond the setting applied. So if you use your mobile phone for work, don’t forget to add the appropriate application to the App Exceptions section.

In addition to limiting the usage time, Screen Time also offers support called Focus Mode. It allows users to perform a function that causes them to be unable to use their cell phones for a while so that they can focus on something.

How to enable focus mode on Xiaomi phones

  1. Page access settings Xiaomi device used
  2. On the settings page, navigate to the section Screen time
  3. Tap the menu Focus mode
  4. Select the duration you want
  5. click Turn on focus mode
  6. Confirm with key To turn on when a warning popup appears

In contrast to the Do Not Disturb (DND) function, which only mutes notifications, the focus mode actually prevents all mobile phone functions except the camera and emergency calls from working.

After activating this mode, users cannot cancel it either. So you have to wait until it ends with a duration of 30, 60, 90 minutes or as applied before.

Screen Time is actually already available in some older versions of MIUI. Users can also use it like in the steps above by customizing the name and location.

But if you don’t support it, you can try other alternatives like the tips I shared before since MIUI basically uses the Android system as its foundation.

Google digital wellbeing

  1. Run the app settings
  2. Scroll down and find Digital wellbeing & parental controls
  3. Select on the next page Show your data
  4. Later it will show different kinds of data that you need

Digital wellbeing is one of the pioneers of digital health functions. Inside, users will also find a variety of interesting tools that can be used to manage cell phone usage.

This Google-owned digital health service also includes a number of menus like a dashboard that can be used to set a timer for each application, bedtime mode, and focus mode.

Telephones with operating systems prior to Android 9 Pie will unfortunately not be able to try this standard Google function. Fortunately, various old devices come with a battery usage feature that can also be used to see how long someone has been using a cell phone.

Android battery usage features

  1. open minded settings on the device you want to check
  2. Find and select menu Battery & performance
  3. Go to section Battery usage statistics

This page allows users to find out how long the mobile phone has been used by looking at the Screen section which generally tells how long the screen has been on.

Each version of the MIUI system certainly has a different placement and naming. Users can customize the above steps based on the version they are using.

If the battery usage check feature is still missing and incomplete, you can view Screen Time on a Xiaomi phone by using a third-party application.

Third party apps

  1. Install the StayFree app from the Google Play Store
  2. Run the application, and then set the year of birth to match the settings according to the age group when you first use it
  3. Press Keep going then agree to the terms of use by tapping the button I agree
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen until you get to the main page

StayFree is an example of an application that supports time management of cell phone usage. Besides this application, you can also search for similar products on the Google Play Store if you are still not satisfied.

But for me personally, this application is more than enough. It already includes functions such as alarms that can be activated to limit the use of cell phones instead of just showing continuous data.

Checking screen time and using various features to limit activity with cell phones is very important. Therefore, if you have problems with the functions or methods mentioned above, you can ask in the comments column.
