Gadgetren – Shortcut Virus is one of the most annoying viruses for computer users. Although this type of virus can get in quickly, it is easy to remove.

If you’re a college student, you must have used an internet cafe or copy shop at least once or twice to print out your assignments. In my experience, the location is one of the main places for different types of computer virus to spread.

In order to print a task or a report, we need to connect the storage device to one of the computers in the cafe or at the copy station. And at this point, without our noticing, different types of viruses can copy themselves to be inserted into the storage media used.

If so, congratulations because the storage medium has also become a medium for the spread of these viruses. It is not uncommon for PCs or laptops to be infected because we connect them to this storage medium.

Virus is actually an application or program that can copy itself and paste a copy into a program or data. Although it is usually harmless to hardware, viruses can steal and damage our data.

However, not all viruses are harmful to our computers or data. There are different types of viruses that only annoy us when we are using the computer. One example is the shortcut virus, which usually just hides the data we store on a flash disk and replaces it with a shortcut.

If so, a lot of people are confused. Not even a few people need to install an antivirus that can get rid of this type of virus.

Although there are many antivirus programs that can be used to deal with shortcut viruses, there is actually a very easy way to get rid of the virus without installing an antivirus program.

How to remove shortcut virus without antivirus

Use command prompt to remove shortcut virus

If your flash drive is infected with the shortcut virus but you haven’t installed an antivirus program that can remove it, then you don’t need to worry. Because the virus can apparently be removed via the command prompt on our Windows computer. Here are the steps:

  1. Open command prompt. You can press the button window + R., then type cmd and click OK to open this tool. You can also open it via the search field when we press the button window.
  2. If it’s already open, navigate to the tools to access the flash disk you want to clean by typing partition followed by a colon. For example, if the flash disk partition is G, just write it down M: then press Enter.
  3. Then enter the command attrib -s -h -r -a *. * / s / d to make data, folders and viruses visible.
  4. When the above process is completed, open the flash disk through explorer and remove the virus and shortcut from the flash disk.

With the above method, we no longer need to be confused when the shortcut virus attacks when we don’t have antivirus on the computer. It is not easy to remove Shortcut virus from our computer. Good luck trying.
