How to limit modem internet speed on Windows

Bandwidth meter

The Internet in Indonesia has become popular since the birth of various social media from Facebook, Friendster to Twitter, and even now there are many that are even better and will keep growing over time. In this modern case, of course, we want to save so that we are not overwhelmed if we run out of something other than the Internet contingent. Quota has become a staple for enjoying the internet at your own pace, with the intention of being dependent on the provider used by the user. There are those who distribute unlimited packets but the speed quota is limited by FUP, there are also those who do not share unlimited packets who are generally given the maximum speed.

If you’re using a cell phone, you might not have much of a problem with quotas because you’re not spending too much data because with just one edge signal, your cell phone is already pretty fast, which is equivalent to normal use. On a computer (modem), however, a lot of data has to be expended, which means that the quota is quickly used up without noticing it. It could be that browsing is too fast, or downloading something large or streaming is definitely not an issue. Therefore, in this article, I am going to introduce the techniques to limit these expenses that can save quotas (bandwidth) even when using WCDMA or LTE. Here is the procedure, see below. (Applies to Windows computers).

  1. Please click on the start button first and enter gpedit.msc and click ENTER

  2. Then a popup appears, on the right, please go to this menu Computer configuration => Administrative templates => Network => QoS packet planner.

  3. Then three menus appear, please double click on the menu Bandwidth limitation

  4. Please click Activate and a percent (%) will be displayed below. Please select 50%. Or as requested. Greater than less data overhead.

  5. If so, please restart your PC and try to view the statistics, they must be different from the ones before.

Only some of the above options can change the maximum surfing, downloading or uploading speed. To switch it off, just click on “Deactivate” in the “Limit reservable bandwidth” menu beforehand. This method has been shown to be safe to use and has no effect on anything but internet speed. In my experience, it is better to use this method for modems that use a 3G connection and above because if it is only on an edge network the internet access will be slower, this is from my own experience.

There is actually bandwidth speed editing software out there, but as I know the function is the same as the method above. So it is better to use this method so that there is still a lot of storage space and not too much software. If you have anything to ask, please comment. : Mr. Green:

Hopefully useful and good luck
